3 Tips for Buying Custom Furniture January 13 2015

Below are three tips to help you make an informed decision about buying furniture from us, or anybody for that matter!
- Grab some measuring tape and measure the rough dimensions of the space you would like to fill or the piece you are replacing. Make sure to measure the width of the space and note how far you are willing to have the piece protrude into your living area. Be mindful of doors or cabinet openings and the space necessary to clear them. And don’t forget the width of the inner door frame! This is especially important for ensuring that you can get the item into your home and into the room you want.
- Try drawing a rough sketch of the space in question. Don’t worry, it needn’t be fancy and you don’t have to be an artist or illustrator to do it! Just try your best. Start with an overhead view of your space and then fill it in with the arrangement of furniture that you have or one you would like. This is really helpful as it gives us a better feel for the space we are working with.
- Get inspired! Use your drawing or photos from magazines and set aside images and products that speak to you. This will help you (and us!) nail down your style and be a good jumping off point.
