It might be easy to tell when it’s time for a new sofa, but what about when it’s just time to refresh your room? Here are fewsofa scenarios to consider to give your living room layout new life!

A Table between the Sofa and the Wall

Something in our DNA tells us to place the furniture up against the wall and we love to help our clients break free from that mold. But sometimes it is done out of necessity. This usually happens in the case of a narrow room. If that sounds like your room, break out your measuring tape, and see if you can pull off this sweet trick to toss a little unexpected flair in your space.

Facing Each Other
Bunny Williams nails it in the above photo. This layout is perfect for your home if you are prone to host. Two matching or similar sofas usually look best in this arrangement. Just imagine all the deep conversations your guests can be having while comfortably seated face to face with nothing but the perfect cocktail, errr, coffee table between them…

Floating
sofa in the middle of the room makes a strong statement and can really do a lot for a room. It’s perfect for strong shapes that look great from all angles. You’ll want to make sure the room is large enough to accommodate this bold layout. Typical furniture plans allow 3.5′ to 10′ to comfortably pass between pieces. A floating couch can really feel luxurious when facing the focal point of the room and flanked on either side by some complimentary chairs.

Back to Back
Okay, so you are going to need a rather large space for this layout, but if you can rock it, by all means – you must, and god grant you the ability to do it with the grace that Windsor Smith does.  Not only does it create two separate areas but the play on symmetry is really easy on the eyes.

Lastly, here is some advice from a pro. Now go get your sofa off that wall.
